Saturday Walk-in Clinic

We'll be hosting an after-hours walk-in clinic from 8am-noon! We will be offering:

• Routine adolescent vaccines for ages 18 and younger with Medicaid/no insurance
•  Flu shots are available billable through insurance or $20 cash
•  STI testing and safe sex supplies
• Car/booster seat checks and installations

*Please note that there may limited availability as the clinic is walk-in

Arrowhead Park Trail Run

Arrowhead Trail Run is a 5k marked course at Arrowhead Park near Neola, Iowa.  Choose the traditional 5k distance, 2 laps for a 10k, or complete as many laps as you can in a 4 hour Enduro!  Medals will be awarded for the top 10 Male and Female in the 5k, 10k and Enduro events.  ALL are welcome to run, jog, walk or hike at your own pace.

Trail Stewards Volunteer Training

Pottawattamie County Conservation is in need of trail stewards who aren't afraid to get dirty while blazing and maintaining four-season recreational trails. Will you answer our call?

Join the Loess Hills Nordic Ski Patrol and take part in hands-on training where you'll gain the skills needed to be a specialized Trail Steward volunteer on Saturday, April 20th from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Hitchcock Nature Center.

Litter Busters Park Cleanup

Follow in the footsteps of the Dump Busters, who saved Hitchcock from becoming a dump, by joining our annual park cleanup.

Did you know that Hitchcock Nature Center's Loess Hills beauty and remnant prairie systems were almost turned into a bottled water factory, and then of all things, a dump!? Thankfully local community members came together, put their feet down, and fought to protect this beautiful area. They're known as the Dump Busters! The trail Angel's Dead End is named after Mike Angel who purchased this land in the late-1980s and was set on profiting from it. Bulldozed Valley, which can be seen from the Loess Hills Lodge observation deck, as well as the trail Dozer Cut, was partially formed by bulldozers when Angel owned the property and was actively working to turn it into a dump. We will be forever grateful to the hundreds of community members who rallied together to save this area for generations to come.
