Pottawattamie County Treasurer’s Office has received multiple reports of a recent text messaging scam impersonating the department of motor vehicle for Enforcement Penalties. The messages claim residents owe traffic tickets and threaten suspension of driving privileges, increased toll charges, and damage to credit scores if payment isn’t made. Pottawattamie County Treasurer’s Office never sends text messages requesting motor vehicle or payment information. Be vigilant when receiving unexpected communications, including those asking you to click on links. DELETE IMMEDIATELY and DO NOT REPLY.
