COVID-19 Accommodations

Property Taxes and Vehicle Registration renewals will not be delinquent until April 17, 2020.

Purchased vehicles, you have until April 16, 2020 to register your vehicle without penalty whether purchased at a dealer or private citizen.

We also have a drop box on the East Side of the Courthouse, which is checked each day.

We encourage dealers to drop off work!

Title Licensing:

Automobile, truck, mobile homes, motor homes are titled. Boat trailers or other type trailers, if over 2000 lbs are titled. Boat or other type trailers under 2000 lbs are issued a registration.

Tax Dates:

Taxes are due in September. You have the option of paying full year or in two equal installments. First installment due by September 30th. Second installment due by March 31st.


2nd half Property Taxes are due by March 31st. If mailing payment, please allow sufficient time to be postmarked by March 31st. Interest is at the rate of 1.5 % (one and one-half percent) per month starting April 1st and October 1st.

Part of the Alert Iowa System, Pottawattamie Alert is a high-speed notification and weather warning service. This no-charge service is available to businesses and residents of Pottawattamie County and its Communities that allows public officials to warn citizens of pending emergencies, critical public information during disasters, recommended protective actions, and provides automated severe weather warnings tailored to your preferences. The system can also be used to provide other important information to communities.
