Pottawattamie County Public Health is announcing the hiring of a Clinical Service Provider! This is a flexible, part-time position working up to 4 hours per week. Can be coordinated on a bi-weekly basis.
Under general administrative supervision of the Public Health Administrator, an individual in this position is responsible for providing adolescent friendly, client centered and inclusive care as well as education, with a focus on vulnerable populations. To ensure access to a broad range of family planning and preventive health services to improve health outcomes and the health of individuals through prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of infections and diseases which may threaten health.
This is a grant funded position. In the event that funding is not available to support this position, the employee will receive a thirty (30) day notice of reduced hours or position termination.Assist individuals in determining the number and spacing of their children through the provision of affordable, voluntary family planning services.
Provide preconception counseling, education, general reproductive and basic infertility health care which includes pregnancy diagnosis and counseling with assistance to achieve pregnancy through basic infertility services, and other preconception health services.
Educate on and provide a comprehensive range of services for clients who want to prevent pregnancy and space births to include natural family planning, hormone methods or placement for Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC).
Administer and manage pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP), including conducting thorough reviews of laboratory test results to ensure effective and appropriate treatment plans.
Provide comprehensive direct care that includes client education, diagnosis, and counseling. Preventative health services encompass, but are not limited to, manual breast examination, pelvic examinations, cervical cancer screenings, as well as education, counseling, testing and referral or treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STI) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).
Issue medical prescriptions based on assessed health needs, ensuring that all treatments are both necessary and appropriate following comprehensive medical evaluations.
Provide screening and referrals for alcohol misuse, substance use disorder, depression, domestic violence, human trafficking and other mental health concerns.
Assist with the development and maintenance of robust referral networks to ensure all clients have access to comprehensive primary care, specialized care, and social services.
Provide clinical program guidance for the satisfactory coordination of all portions of the services.
Annually review agency policies, manuals, and standing orders.
Utilize a computer and related software programs to collect and analyze client data and program success; generate reports.
Develop and recommended evidence-based interventions and control measures in response to research findings with appropriate cultural/social/political framework.
Recognize potential communicable disease outbreaks and other emergencies and advise the Epidemiologist of such issues.
Apply principles of ethical/legal practice as they relate to client care, data collection, dissemination, and use.
Maintains safe and secure use and storage of county equipment and vehicle. Ensure general vehicle preventive maintenance is performed.
Perform other duties as directed or as the situation dictates.

Ability to accurately record legal/medical documentation within an electronic medical record system and prepare reports.
Knowledge of program evaluation and quality improvement methods and the ability to coordinate within a team to improve existing program methods, organization or structure.
Ability to diagnose and administer treatment for a variety of common illnesses and injuries.Licensure in the State of Iowa as a Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, or Certified Nurse Midwife. Experience in reproductive healthcare preferred.
Possession of CPR, BLS, and Iowa HHS Child and Dependent Adult Abuse certification upon hire.
Obtain basic epidemiology training, St. Louis Prevention Training Center certification, bloodborne pathogen training, respirator fit test, CBSS Manual and Iowa Mandatory Reporter training within 2 months of hire.
Obtain Title X Program training within 2 months of hire to include:
Must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of hire and shall maintain it throughout the course of employment.
Certifications shall be maintained throughout the course of the employment.
